Is equipment hire included in the price with interpreters?

Hi London Translations, we are getting quotes for interpreters to work in a sports venue in Manchester for a meeting of athletic coaches. The venue does not have any facilities for interpreters and I’ve been told I’ll need a soundproof booth and some other kit. Do your interpreting rates include equipment hire?

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for your question. We will be happy to provide you with a quote for interpreting services which either includes, or does not include equipment hire. The choice is entirely yours.

However, we have a strong preference for supplying everything you need to make your event a success ourselves.

By this we mean the interpreters, the equipment and any ancillary services such as project management and the translation of agendas and other documentation.

The reason for this is simple.

If we provide everything, we can be 100% sure it will be fit for purpose and there will be no mistakes.

For instance, our equipment installers will liaise with your event organisers to make sure that the sound-proof booths are positioned correctly and the feed to their mixing desk works as required.

We will carry out tests in advance to ensure the communications links from the booths to the delegates’ headsets are clear and their batteries are fully charged (We carry spare headsets in case more people attend than were expected).

Setting up interpreting equipment is a specialist task and we have found in the past that things can go badly wrong when people who are not experts attempt it.

Remember, this will be a live event and there’s only one chance to get it right.
