What type of conference interpreters are available?
Since conference interpreting is one of our most-requested services, we offer a wide range of simultaneous interpretation formats to suit any number of events and conferences around the UK.
At London Translations, our team can provide either of the two key types of interpreting: simultaneous and consecutive. Consecutive interpreting is most useful for smaller conversations—perhaps one-to-one meetings or intimate networking events taking place during a conference. For the majority of conferences, though, simultaneous interpreting is crucial.
Simultaneous interpreters usually sit in individual soundproof booths with a line of sight to the speaker. They’ll listen over headphones and translate what they hear into a microphone, the sound from which is fed into the headphones of conference attendees who don’t understand the language of the speaker. This method of translation is non-intrusive, but also highly technical. Auditoriums need to be rigged up with high-tech equipment ahead of the conference in order to give the interpreters what they need to carry out an effective job.

We have carried out simultaneous interpreting for many events, including sales presentations, global product launches, and other corporate conferences with an international scale. We also have a great track record with providing consecutive interpretation for smaller events and meetings.
The size of your event and the number of foreign language speakers present determines the scale of our simultaneous interpretation operation. We recommend two translators per language, working in alternating shifts throughout the event to ensure they are working to their maximum capacity at all times.
