Welsh Translation Services To Be Restored
An article published on the Daily Post website has revealed that High Court judges have ordered National Savings & Investments to restore their Welsh language services. The ruling found that the agency acted unlawfully when they scrapped the service. We take a look at the report in today’s video.
It has been reported that High Court judges have found that National Savings & Investments broke the law when they revoked their Welsh Language services in April 2013. The judges also ordered the Treasury-backed agency to continue operating the language scheme.
Reports indicate that National Savings & Investments has accepted the ruling and will consult the Welsh Language Commissioner regarding bringing back its Welsh Language services.
A spokesperson for London Translations said recently…
“This is clearly the right decision. Even in times of austerity it is important to protect the legal rights of Welsh speakers as to do otherwise, quite apart from it being illegal, would risk putting further pressure on the language’s currency as part of Welsh culture and heritage”.
