Professional Development:

London Translations’ Linguist Academy represents the very best linguistic training, learning, development. You’ll want to measure your performance against challenging benchmarks to get a clear idea of where and how to improve. Regular reviews with your assigned coach give you the opportunity to do this, receive feedback from experienced colleagues, and set fresh goals.

Your level of experience will dictate the seniority of the position you are awarded when you begin your new role. With a clear career road-map planned out for you on day 1, you can be assured of consistent progression opportunities for the length of your tenure.

The tiers of linguist seniority are:

Associate Linguist – You’ll begin your career here. In this position you’ll be given some of the best linguistic training in the industry, placing you in a strong position to be able to progress your career to the next level.

Linguist – You can expect to reach Linguist level after 18 months of consistent, high quality translation experience, and continued positive feedback from clients. You’ll be given the opportunity to monitor the progress of Associate Linguists, and provide light training sessions with more junior members of the team.

Senior Linguist – The role of Senior Linguist is reachable after 3+ years of translation experience. You may have been a freelance translator looking for an in-house role, or you may already have an established career as an in-house linguist from another agency. You’ll be given the opportunity to train and develop Associates and Linguists.

Head of Language – Here, you’ll take full responsibility for all translations into a certain language; this includes aspects of quality, and training, learning, and development of the team reporting into you. You’ll be a Head of Language after gaining 6+ years of translation experience, and you’ll ideally hold 1 or more professional qualifications in translation.

What you’ll need:

You’ll be translating INTO your native language, and so you’ll need to be a native speaker of either:

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Chinese
  • Arabic

You’ll also need to have at least 2 “source languages” which you can translate FROM with professional quality and competence.

You’ll need to have at least 4 years of formal education in a translation-related subject (degree/master’s degree level) OR equivalent experience.
